Not that we were frequent visitors to the house, but every time we walked in the door, when we said our hello's and greeted Mrs. Lee, she would lean forward and call out with a big smile, "How are YOU?!!" I can still her voice and see that smile.
One memory that sticks out in my mind, was at Green Lake. Our families were celebrating the Autumn-Moon Festival. We set out makeshift tables and were sitting in our camp chairs. Mrs. Lee was in her wheelchair. We were sharing take-out fried rice and noodles. We had an assortment of moon cakes. We appreciated the hot tea to ward off the cold as the full moon was rising. I remember the enjoyment of the moment of beauty of the full moon and silhouette of the Seattle skyline. And I remember seeing Mrs. Lee all bundled up against the cold in a huge puffy coat AND a down comforter or blanket AND a knit cap! It was dark and only a small triangle of her face could be seen. But she was smiling and happy to be out and sharing the moment. I am glad to have this memory of her.
