Died: March 24, 2020 Kirkland, WA
Virginia Pearl Andrew, ‘Ginnie’ to her friends, was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1923 to Edward & Olga Ripley. She grew up in eastern Washington where she met her husband, Marion Albert Andrew, ‘Andy’. Together with Andy and their first of three daughters, the Andrew family moved to Seattle. Ginnie worked with her husband doing sales and managing the service and repair department in a Seattle Radio, TV and Appliance store, eventually becoming partners in a store in Bellevue, WA. Virginia was active in Soroptimist, an international organization of professional women and with her husband Andy, they were members in PSOC, an international organization of appliance and electronic repair service companies.
Virginia kept busy with her husband in their spare time remodeling, designing and building houses, doing most of the work themselves. They even ‘flipped’ a house in 1952. The houses they built were in Juanita, Kirkland, Vashon Island and finally Bothell. For relaxation, they took up motor homing, including a one year trip across the country in 1976 for the USA bi-centennial. Finally they became Snow-Birds traveling between the Seattle area and Phoenix Arizona.
After Andy died in November 2000, Virginia settled down in Westport, WA, to be near her sister, Margery. Virginia renewed many of her craft hobbies and was active in the local Women’s VFW organization, once as president. Ginnie also added Missy to her household. Missy was a small red toy poodle who became Ginnie’s constant companion. In 2012, Virginia returned to the Seattle area for heart surgery. With Missy, she moved into an assisted living facility in Kenmore where she lived until she passed away on March 24th, two months before her 97th birthday.
Virginia is survived by one brother, Ted E. Ripley, Port Angeles, WA; two of her three daughters, Sharon L. Berosik, Sultan, WA; and Marilyn J. Broncheau, Marysville, WA; eight grandchildren, 14 great Grandchildren, and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren and her first direct GGCh is expected this April. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Patricia M. VonPinnon.
