Helenn Hattie Heiss died on April 7, 2018 in La Habra, CA due to of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 83.
Helenn was born on June 5, 1934 in Dover, New Hampshire to her parents Theodore and Margaret Alyea. She graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1953. Floyd Heiss and Helenn were married on April 2, 1955 in Huntington Beach, CA. The Heiss’ lived in Whittier, CA where Floyd worked for Rockwell International for most of his career. Helenn was a homemaker, raising their three children, and being active in various PTA’s and Boy Scout troops.
Among her passions were camping, art, writing poetry and stories, going to dances, and taking long daily walks. She enjoyed her years spent as a den mother to a troop of cub scouts. Helenn attended many of her high school’s annual reunions for Huntington Beach High.
Helenn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Adrian and Gerry Heiss, her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Richard Finke, as well as her grandchildren, Brite Heiss, Tristan Heiss, Lauren Finke, and Adrian Heiss Jr. She is preceded in death by her son Paul Heiss, husband Floyd Heiss, and second husband George Britton.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 am at Funeraria Del Angel, 10333 Alondra Blvd., Bellflower, CA, with internment at Inglewood Park Cemetery at 720 E. Florence Ave., Inglewood, CA. A reception to follow at Helenn’s home on 11721 S. Tigrina Ave. Whittier, CA.
