Our loving, genuine and loyal wife, mother, and grandmother, Santiaga “Sunny” Holguin Sheely, 87, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. Sunny was born in El Paso, Texas on July 6, 1934. She was raised by her cousins and grew up very poor, but rich in family values, learning how to pick cotton at a young age, she was a hard worker. Sunny met the love of her life, Elmer E. Sheely, Jr., in September of 1961, at a roller skating rink in El Paso. They married on April 11, 1966, it was then that Sunny would spend her time alone while Elmer was in Vietnam. Upon his return they moved to Oklahoma in 1968 where they made their home and welcomed their daughter, Sue Ann. Sunny retired from AT&T/Lucent in 1996, where she had made a decent living that she would share with other family members in a time of need. There were many things she enjoyed: gardening in her flowers, casinos, and traveling coast to coast with her family in their RV, in spare time selling antiques and depression glass was her favorite hobby. Above all, Sunny loved her family and loved spending time with her granddaughter, Hannah. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Cecilia Vaughan, Lito Holguin, Jesus "Chuy" Pacheco; and cousin, Lupe Gonzales. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Elmer; daughter, Sue Ann Sheely; granddaughter, Hannah Adams; and sisters, Rose Perales and Andrea Pacheco. Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Friday, August 6, 2021 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. A Celebration of her life will be 10am Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
