Izievell (Hicks) Martin of Binghamton, NY was
taken from this earth on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
She was born in Easley, SC on July 14, 1915,
to the late Dora and Hence Hicks. She is
also predeceased by her husband William Martin
and all of her siblings Ada Gates, Blondie Jones,
Ebilee Long, Ethel Smith,
JuliaBelle Hicks, OzzieBeth Rogers, M.C. Hicks
and Ed Hicks; nephews Billy Johnson, Theodore
Jordan and Nigel Jordan. Izievell is survived by
two nieces Beatrice Solomon, Miami, FL and Mary
Mack, Washington, DC; three nephews Glover
Rogers and Christian Rogers both of Miami, FL
and Kevin Johnson of TX; niece Deserae Blunt of
New York City, NY and a host of great and great
great relatives. She also had two “chosen” daughters,
Valerie Terry and Acquanetta Young both
of Binghamton, NY and her “chosen grandson”
Quincy Irvin that she loved dearly. Izievell was a
faithful member of Beautiful Plain Baptist Church
where she loved to sing and pray as she praised the
Lord and even wrote some songs. She continued
to do this at Mercy House with the volunteers. Her
membership continued at Cornerstone Community
Church where she was a Missionary and kept
up with things she could support. She is missed
and loved by all who knew her. We would like
to thank Dr. Fort, Linda and Sally, Dr. Crumb,
Hospice, Office of the Aging, Sally Tomaney, Kay
Keltos, Mercy House staff and volunteers who
showed her an abundance of love and care.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September
15, 2018, 11am at the Cornerstone Community
Church 911 E. Main Street, Endicott, NY with
Rev. Dr. Gregory Johnson presiding. Burial will
follow in Spring Forest Cemetery. The family will
receive friends at church from 10am until the time
of service. Memorial donations can be made to
Cornerstone Community Church-Mission Board,
911 E. Main Street, Endicott, NY or Mercy House
of the Southern Tier 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott,
NY.
