Primo W. Ponti, 91 of Binghamton, Went home to be in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, Enrico & Louise (Vigoni) Ponti, also his brothers, Henry and Marco. Primo is survived by his loving companion, Margaret Thornblad, daughters, Deborah Ponti and Kathleen Raymer, sons, William & Jacki Ponti and David Ponti, grandchildren, Jennifer & Marc Barnes, Matthew & Jessica Ponti, Anthony Raymer and Sara Raymer, 3 great grandchildren also sisters, Mary Salvagno and Marge Mallaro and many nieces and nephews. Primo was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force during WW II, he was also a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Church and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Johnson City. Primo was a dedicated umpire for more than 50 years and had been inducted into the Section 4 Hall of Fame in March of 2004. He was also an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. Primo was a loving and devout family man and friend and he will be dearly missed by many.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church on Chenango St., burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time.
