Charlie Baisch was my first real boss when I completed school. I was working in the Cold Draw department and wanted in sales for a couple of years but Charlie said I was too young and my long hair in 1972 didn't help matters. Charlie finally took a chance on me and brought me up to the "Main Office" to work a sales desk. There was so much to learn and Charlie helped me in so many ways. I tried to be the best employee and make Charlie proud of the work I was doing which I feel I accomplished. I left Connors a few months before it closed and transferred to another steel mill out of state. Steel had now become my career where I worked for over 40 years. When I retired I was sales manager for a major steel mill in Birmingham. A career in steel was the last career I had considered but I came to love it in great part from Charlie Baisch. Charlie I will always carry your memory with me as well as work relationship we had. I hope Charlie was proud of me because I learned all about steel from him. RIP Mr Baisch.
