Junior Wormely, 89, received his heavenly reward on February 23, 2021. He was one of 20 children born to Ralph Wormely, Sr. and Millie Lee Wormely, in Uniontown, Alabama. Junior was born on March 3, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Millie Wormely; brothers and sisters, Ralph Wormely, Jr., Annie Beavers, David Wormely, J.D. Wormely, Earl Wormely, Pearl Wormely, Floyd Wormely, Harry Wormely, John Wormely, Eddie Wormely, and Joseph Wormely; daughter Vanessa Wormely; and son, Khensu Benu Ra. He is survived by his wife Eloise Studdard Wormely; children, Janice Wormely, Carol Morales, Darryl Wormely, Debora Wormely, Cedric Wormely, Stanley Wormely (Arlinda), and Karla Lynn Wormely-Page; step-children, Shawn Bryant, Michael Bryant, and Lisa Chambers (Donnie); brothers and sisters, his twin, Julia Madison, Betty Sims (John), Martha Rhodes, Mary Echoles (Ozelle), Adele Sims (Walter), Lloyd Wormely, Sterling Wormely (Evelyn), and McArthur Wormely; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Junior was a fervent lover of the Lord, who took great joy in sharing His Word. He was responsible for starting congregations in outlying areas and served as the interim minister of Roosevelt City Church of Christ. When he retired, he said all that he wanted to do was “Talk Bible”, and he did. He also was a minister and counselor to other ministers, and he was adept in church history. Junior had a servant’s heart, he gave so much to everyone. He was a loving husband. He was fondly called “Pop J.”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10 am at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens.
