Carolyn Joyce Pate Barger, 85, of Bloomington died Thursday, February 14, 2019 in I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. She was born December 26, 1933 in Bloomington to James R. Pate and Wilma Alice Siscoe Pate. She was retired from RCA/Thompson Consumer Electronics.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Vestal Barger of Bloomington; a son, Terry Lee Barger and his wife MaryBeth of Bloomington; her daughter, Carol Ann Bonney and her husband Paul M. of Bloomington; a sister, Delores “Sis” Burnette and her husband Bill of Bedford; two brothers, James R. "Bobby" Pate Jr. and his wife Lynda of Bloomfield and Charles Pate of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Kivan Barger, Andrew (Jennifer) Benson, Tyler (Shayna) Bonney and Brittany (Tyler) DePriest; seven great grandchildren, Kyson Barger, Ellie Benson, Anna Benson, Kierra Bonney, Scarlet Bonney, Nolan DePriest and Isla DePriest; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Alice "Bubbles" Pate; and a sister in law, Linda Pate.
Carolyn was a long time member of Family Life Church. She loved spending time with her family and her church family. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, camping, collecting Snowbabies, cooking especially trying new recipes and listening to Vestal sing and play his guitar. Carolyn will be loved and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, February 18, 2019 at 12:00 PM in Family Life Church, 8449 N. Fox Hollow Rd. with Pastor Tracy Noel officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be prior to services on Monday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon also in the church.
