Juanita Sare Clendening, age 100, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Born June 17, 1922 in Monett, Missouri, she was the daughter of R. Floyd and Grace (Moss) King. Juanita was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a former member of the Bloomington Historical Society, Home Maker Extension Club and the American Sewing Guild. Juanita was an excellent seamstress making everything from draperies to custom suits. Being a voracious reader, she attended the book club at the Monroe County Public Library before losing her eyesight. She then listened to numerous audio books.
Juanita graduated from Ellettsville High School, class of 1940, and was the senior class president. Prior to high school she attended Crossroads School.
Juanita is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Don Fisher, of Bloomington, grandson, Anthony Parker, of Bloomington; three nephews, Tedd (Joe Kucharski) King, of Delafield, Wisconsin, Scott (Kathy) King, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jerry (Clementine) Sare, of Beech Grove, Indiana and one great-niece, Sarah Grace King, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Sare in February 1985, her second husband, Ralph Clendening in 1989, her brother and sister-in-law, Herald and Joy King and her cat, Thomas.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Garden Villa for their special care over the last six years.
