Linda Lee Campton

Linda Lee Campton, age 73, of Bowling Green, Indiana passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022 at her residence. Born August 13, 1948 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Morris) Campton. Linda was a graduate of Columbus High School, class of 1966. She continued her education at Indiana University receiving her B.S. degree in accounting. She retired from Indiana University where she was an administrative assistant. She formerly taught school at the former La Campagne Ministries Christian School in Owen County. Linda and her family were also instrumental in starting and operating the first privately funded no-kill animal shelter in Owen County. She was a huge supporter of humane societies and animal rights. She loved and trained horses and was an avid barrel racer in her younger years. Linda was also a huge supporter of the Owen County Library and their programs. She was a member of La Campagne Ministries. Linda is survived by her loving family, her son, Joseph (Carrie) Garland, of Bowling Green, her daughter, Stephanie Garland, of Bowling Green, three sisters, Virgie (Todd) Ream, Bobetta Tharp and Judy Tharp, all of Ohio; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Lee Garland, Samantha (Boone) Waite, Wyatt (Jo) Garland and Briar Garland and two great-grandchildren, Raynne Smith and Dorian Garland. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter in infancy, Shelly Lee Garland, one sister, Betty McCarty and one brother, Jerry Tharp. A Celebration of Life service was held on Friday, July 29 at 5:00 p.m. at La Campagne Ministries Chapel in Owen County.
