Stanley J. Douthitt, Jr., age 92, of Bloomington, died Tuesday morning (02/19/2019) at his residence. Born February 21, 1926 in Bloomington, the son of Stanley J. Douthitt, Sr. and Bertha (Durnal) Douthitt. He retired from Westinghouse where he worked 25 years. He was a member of the South Union Christian Church and a life member of the Burton Woolery American Legion Post #18. He formerly served with the Monroe Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Thelma (Smith) Douthitt, of Bloomington, step-son, Steve (Shirley) Pate, of Ellettsville, step-daughter, Deanna Wilder, of Orleans, Indiana, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Carol Minett, one step-daughter, Vicki Bergan, two brothers, Willard Douthitt and Stephen Douthitt and two sisters, Lucille Christman and Katherine Snyder.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the South Union Christian Church.
