Kiko, as he is fondly called, spent his childhood and grade school in Candelaria, Zambales. His high school years were spent in Iba, Zambales.
In his early twenties, he fought in the Korean War alongside President Fidel Ramos and Gen Douglas McArthur, being part of the second wave of the 20th BCT Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea.
After two years in Korea, he went home to the Philippines and studied at the University of Santo Tomas for Pre-Med. However, he shifted to another field and went to Far Eastern University to become a lawyer. He briefly served as Assistant Clerk of Court in Olongapo City then transferred to Iba, Zambales Court of Agrarian Relations in 1970 until 1980.
He married Benedicta Ebdane Edquid (Bening) on July 6, 1955. This year would have been their 65th wedding anniversary. They have 12 children (11 living), 20 grandchildren, and currently 7 great grandkids.
Kiko retired in 1980 and began his journey in America with the goal of supporting his children’s education in the Philippines. His and his wife’s sacrifices and labor of love paid off because their dream of having professional children and grandchildren came true.
