Mom,

This is so hard for me to write since I wasn’t ready for you too leave my life. I’m happy that we shared many good times within the last couple of years. Letting go of so many issues of the past and just being happy together. I loved making you laugh, and you surely had your own great sense of humor as well. You were always excited about all the meals I would make for you, and if shrimp was on the menu you always made sure you had room for thirds. You were a fighter when it came to what you believed in, and when it came to living. You always looked so pretty because you constantly took care of yourself. I’m thankful that I had you as my mother and I’m proud to be your son. I know one day we will be together again. Until then mom you will always be in my heart, and I’ll always miss you.
Love always. Your son Alan

Dear Lucita (Lucy), I'm sad to see you leave but so happy that you can now be at peace. Thank you for all you did for me when I was growing up. You taught me how to care for my hair and even told me that I was a "tender head" for crying out load when you combed or tried to comb through my thick thick hair. But no matter what, it came out beautiful!
I loved how you danced and sang to the Diana Ross songs and I admired how much you acted and looked like her. It was always fun when we would all get together at my parents house and sing into the microphone. I would always look forward to seeing my cousins all the time and especially on holidays.
I love you.
Until we meet again,
Your cousin, Jovonne
