Dorothy and Waver were friends from St. Mark's Lutheran Church for more years than I can remember. They were kind and encouraging when my husband died in 2000. Years later, Waver called me as a friend from church to ask me to help him with a problem. He was trying to help his widow neighbor resolve legal problems, and since I was working for an attorney, he hoped I could help. He brought his neighbor to my boss, and the problems were solved. I moved from Chula Vista, but attended Dorothy's service. Again, Waver and I met at a church service in a Lutheran church in La Mesa, where I was promoting service, and I learned from him that he had serious cancer. I asked permission to ask for prayers from my new church. He agreed. I believe that God again answered prayer in bringing him home to be with the Lord and his beloved Dorothy so that he is no longer alone and free from pain. A friend in Christ, Jill McGrew

Waver and his wife Dorothy were always so sweet and kind to me. Now they are together again. They both are so missed.

I’ve known Waver 45 years and he’s been “the go to guy” for everything in the neighborhood. He was always willing to help anyone with anything.

I’ll always remember his beautiful orchid garden and his love of everything he built or fixed.
He loved to visit with everyone in the neighborhood and hung outside until the next neighbor came by.

He will be sorely missed as a fixture on Glen Verde Drive. The silence is already deafening.

My heart goes out to the family
