I was crazy about Brenda Jourdon from the time I was a wee lad. She was always gorgeous - a Southern friend Liz Taylor - and just as cool as she could be. She always let me play her Elvis records (she was the staunchest of fans) and read from her endless stacks of classic movie magazines. She took me to every Elvis movie ever made, and if the film didn't glorify Elvis enough, delivered a withering critique. I vividly remember coming out of the Princess Theater and hearing her BLAST "Paradise: Hawaiian Style" as a wretched imitation of BLUE HAWAII. We talked about the film stars of the era as if they were close friends, and, in a way they were. Brenda never talked down to me because I liked Kim more than I liked Marilyn although such a preference must've been anathema to her.
On the sad minute of her passing I went straight to the Bose and played "Rock A Hula Baby" ten time in a row and that was the best tribute I could think up for beautiful, wonderful woman. She will be greatly missed.
