John J. Mastripolito, a 46 year resident of Bowie, Maryland died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on November 7th surrounded by his wife of 65 years, his loving children and grandchildren. John was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 21, 1922, the son of Clara and John Mastripolito. He is predeceased by his brother, Alfred Mastripolito.
In 1965, he left Curtis Publishing Company In Philadelphia after 20 years and brought his family to Washington where he was employed as a bookbinder for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. He retired in 1986.
John's army career spanned a period of 43 years, serving first in the National Guard of Philadelphia, then four years of active duty in the South Pacific during World War II, and he continued his service after the war as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the active Army Reserves until his retirement in 1986. he was also a Major in the Veteran Guard Society of Philadelphia and a member of The Military Order of the World Wars.
John is survived by his wife Joan and his five children, Maria Poole, John V. "Jack" Mastripolito, Jude Masters and his wife Susan, Mary Jo Mastripolito and Mark A. Mastripolito and his wife Thelma. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel. Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery.
