OBITUARY

Judith Lynne Terry

October 21, 1946November 25, 2019

Judith Lynne Terry of Bowie, Maryland, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019. She was 73.

Judy grew up in Queensbury, New York, where she met her future husband, William Terry, whom she married in June 1967. They relocated up and down the East Coast as a result of Bill's Navy music career before settling in Greater Washington in 1977. Along with raising a family, Judy worked first as a pre-school educator before eventually working for the state of Maryland as a child-care licensing inspector, ensuring that home and school daycare facilities complied with safety regulations.

Upon retirement, she pursued many passions -- traveling (particularly to the United Kingdom; Judy was a lifelong anglophile who adored the Beatles and the royal family), singing in a senior chorus and volunteering as a reading tutor in local elementary schools and at the National Gallery of Art in D.C. She also attended many sporting events, ballet recitals, musical performances and school assemblies, for Judy's greatest passion was being an aunt and a grandmother

Judy is survived by her husband, Bill, as well as her daughter, Amy Lake, and son, Robert Terry; daughter-in-law Tara Terry and son-in-law Bryan Lake; brothers John Jenkins and Jeffrey Jenkins; and grandchildren Emma Terry, William Terry, Colin Lake and Zachary Terry.

Family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 10, 2019, at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland, 20715, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

I have such great memories of Judy. Hey, remember when she asked me to explain a computer program to make the lists for the Chorale Attendance Team? She learned so well (ha ha)... so well in fact I got to repeat the lesson several times!!! Glad she finally got it --- or maybe she gave up --- or maybe I was just a horrible teacher! Oh, and I remember I was always greeted so well at your door upon my arrival. Oh yes, you and Judy were very inviting but the dog was much happier to see me!

Hey you know Judy was the greatest. Always a smile and always willing to help. Boy am I really gonna miss her. She was one of the special ones.

My prayers are with you Bill, and with your family. Remember that your friends are here for you.

Marg
