1935 – 2019
Mildred Tanner Haines of South Hill, Virginia and a 27 year resident of Bowie, Maryland transitioned to her eternal resting place. Mrs. Haines is the daughter of the late Jamie Coleman Tanner and the late Elsie Bell Saddler, sister to the late Sonny Tanner and Eunice Matthews. Mrs. Haines worked at Burlington Ribbon Mills before moving to Maryland where she then worked for nearly 40 years in the grocery store industry as a meat wrapper. Upon retirement, Mrs. Haines pursued various hobbies from stained glass design to sewing and raising many household pets. During the last few years she devoted and shared her times with neighbors volunteering to assist with household projects and just visiting with anyone who would listen to her stories of mischief.
Mrs. Haines is survived by her husband of 50 years, David Krantz Haines of Bowie. Her daughter, Teresa W. Grasso, husband Larry, granddaughter Amanda O’Neil and great granddaughter Audrey O’Neil, and nephews Mark Allen Matthews and Michael Matthews.
Mrs. Haines is also survived by Sheila Radel (Bob, Jonathan, and Rachel), Kim Bussey (Bob, Lindsey and Derrick), Debbie Marotto (Steven), and 6 more great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Monday October 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. Funeral Services will occur 10:00AM Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home. Internment will immediately follow services at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland.
