Born in Wilton ND, Kay grew up on a raspberry farm in the Puyallup Valley, married Albert Loga, and moved to Bremerton in 1945 after World War II.
Kay was a gifted and passionate athlete as a student and as an adult; participating in tennis, softball, volleyball, and bowling until age 80. Kay was inducted into the Kitsap Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990.
She was employed for 30 years with the Washington State Employment Office where she became a supervisor at a time when opportunities for women were limited.
She was an excellent cook and baked the best pies. Her family loved that she made the traditional Ukrainian dishes from ‘the old country’; in particular, holubtsi, delicious cabbage rolls filled with meat and rice.
Kay lived life on her own terms. She was a skilled Poker and Black Jack player and enjoyed spending time at the local Bremerton Chip’s Casino. She was a true character who loved winning at Bingo when that was the only game she could play at 98.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Jacob, grandchildren Terri Jacob Ahlf and Brian Jacob, great grandchildren Kyle Ahlf, Zach Jacob, and Marki Jacob. Kay resided at Providence St Vincent in West Seattle for some time and genuinely loved and appreciated the people caring for her.
Kay loved her active life, but most of all she loved her family.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton. If desired, donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1513 6th Street, Bremerton, WA 98337 or Mary’s Place, PO Box 1711, Seattle, WA 98111.
