Lola (Korner) Brodfeld, age 92, of Brookline, MA, died on Friday, December 2, 2022. She was born in Czernowitz, Romania, the daughter of the late David and Dora (Sekler) Korner. She graduated from the Polytechnical Institute of Bucharest, Romania, in 1953 with a degree in chemical engineering, and worked in food quality assurance in Deva, Romania. In 1964, Lola and her parents and her brother Marcel emigrated to Montreal, Canada. There she began a beautiful correspondence with Bruno Brodfeld of Cambridge, MA, also recently emigrated from Romania, which led to 57 years of marriage.
Lola worked for several years in her field at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and then chose to devote the majority of her time to raising her daughter, Pearl, and taking care of her family. Over the years she volunteered many hours in a virology lab at Boston Hospital for Women. She was an active member of Temple Emanuel in Newton, MA, where she was president of the Sisterhood from 1986 to 1988. In every domain of her life, Lola was known for being kind, loyal, soft-spoken, trustworthy, and always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved art, music, word games, travel, and in later years her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons, David and Jonathan.
Lola is survived by her husband Bruno, her daughter Pearl Bacdayan and son-in-law Paul, her grandsons David and Jonathan Bacdayan, and her brother Marcel Korner and his wife Henriette.
