OBITUARY

Billy Edward Gamblin

November 22, 1937March 22, 2020

Billy Edward Gamblin, age 82, of Brownwood, formerly of Bangs passed away Sunday, March 22, at the Brownwood Senior Care. He was born November 22, 1937 in Blanket, Texas the son of Finis Edward Gamblin and Irma Crouch Gamblin. He was raised in McCulloch County and completed high school at Blanket. He married Peggy Gayle DeHay and lived in Llano until moving their family to Bangs in 1969. He worked as a repairman for Verizon for over 35 years. He was a member of the Bangs Masonic Lodge, a Scottish Rite member, a member of the Heart of Texas Shrine Club, and the First Baptist Church of Bangs. He worked on the family farm well into his retirement raising cattle and being on the farm with his grandchildren teaching them new things. He especially enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with things. He was very proud of his 1933 Ford pick-up he had driven in high school and later restored. He was a jack-of-all trades and master of many. He is survived by two sons, Ricky Gamblin and wife Re’Genna of Bangs and William Gamblin and wife Kelly of Austin, his daughter Bunny Keeney of Bangs, a daughter-in-law, Jimmie Carol Gamblin, his grandchildren, Dustin Gamblin, Locke Gamblin and wife Emily, Heather Thompson and husband Chris, Caleb Gamblin and wife Jessica, Cameron Carter, Matt Carter, Cooper Gamblin, Meagan Gamblin and Avery Gamblin, step-grandchildren, Matthew Paz, Mark Paz and wife Amanda, and Michael Paz and wife Mary Rose, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lonnie Gamblin, and two brothers, Charles Gamblin and Jackie Gamblin. A private family graveside service will be held at the Cowboy Cemetery in McCulloch County. His body will be in state for viewing from noon on Tuesday until noon on Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Care of Brownwood for the love, care, and respect showed to Billy and family during his time there.
