James Edward Smith, a long time resident of Brown County, was taken from us Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 67. James was born in Brownwood, Texas to Velma Wright and Felix Smith. He proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam war from 1970 to 1972. When he returned home, James was a man of many trades. On April 6, 1999, he married the love of his life Bobbie Wood, whom he spent many years with. James enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching football, especially the Texans and the Cowboys. He could be described as a soft-spoken man, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. James is survived by his brother Curtis Rambo of Bangs, sister Sharon Goforth of Amarillo, step children John, Sandy and Ivalena, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. James is preceded by his loving wife Bobbie Smith and her son Bill, his mother Velma Wright, his father Felix Smith, a sister and several brothers. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 4:00pm at Lakeview Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas.
