Mildred “Mickey” Wooldridge

Mildred J. (Mickey) Wooldridge, a long-time resident of Bangs, Texas, entered heaven on March 24th. Mickey was born in Elm Grove in San Saba County on June 23rd, 1931. She moved to Bangs while still in School with her Parents Robert and May Jones. There she met and married Glynn Wooldridge who had returned from service in the Army Air Corp during World War II on January 24th,1947. He had begun a service station business, and together they became leaders in the community. Through the years Mickey served in the Parent Teacher Association and was honored on several occasions for various kinds of civic service. She proudly served as Grand Marshal of the Christmas Parade in Bangs in 2011. Mickey and Glynn had three children who all graduated from Bangs School, Lin, Dan, and T. Kaye. Mickey was also a greatly loved leader in the First Baptist Church of Bangs where she taught many children’s classes and led out on numerous committees. She is perhaps best known for the way she served others, especially those in need. In her last years she took great delight in helping serve at the Wednesday night suppers at the church. Her bible was marked with many favorite verses and her trust in the Lord was the key to the way she lived. Her sweet and kind-hearted nature made her someone that everyone loved. In addition to service in the community and in her church, she worked as a rural mail carrier and then later as a postal clerk in the Bangs Post Office. This position kept her in touch with the community and she knew, and was known, by the people of Bangs. To the end of her life she was a blessing to all of her family and to everyone she met, and they knew her as a sweet, kind, and loving person. Those left to cherish her memories include Lin Graves of Georgetown and her children, Gayla Bankhead and David Beene; Dan and Shannon Wooldridge of Georgetown and their children, Brooke Tackett, Paige Allen and Chase Wooldridge; T. Kaye and Stuart Irvine of Sydney, Australia and their children, Joseph, Henry and Esme; 15 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two aunts, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn, who passed in 1998. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Bangs at 3 p.m. The family will have a private burial.

I have so many cherished memories of visits with our Texas family when I was growing up - but none more wonderful than dinners around the table at Aunt Mickey and Uncle Glynn’s!! So much great food and fun laughter, and the most touching and inspiring words of blessing! Times there and in the yard and on the porch - all treasures!
You will be missed, Aunt Mickey! So wonderful to have seen you again a few years back when you set up the WW2 Memorial tribute to your dear Glynn. He and many others will welcome you with loving arms into our Lord’s care.
My love and true condolences to all the Wooldridge family -

Mickey's love for Jesus, her church and friends were a powerful example to all! Her faithfulness to the LORD and her church were a blessing to me and to many others! Thank you Lord for her example and faithfulness and prayers! May the family know the peace that passes understanding during these days!
