Harold James Moore, devoted husband and father, and adoring “Papa”, slipped from this life into the presence of his Heavenly Father on September 30, 2010. Born on March 14, 1930 to Rosse and Verda Brady Moore in Douglas, GA, Harold would grow into a soldier serving in the Army 82nd Airborne Division at the age of 16. Serving others became his way of life. Whether fixing a car at Valdosta Generator and Starter Company while sharing a story of encouragement with a customer, or comforting a family in a time of loss during his twenty years of service as Lowndes County Coroner, Mr. Moore always gave of himself to others.
He leaves to honor his memory, his loving and faithful wife of sixty-one years, Myrtice Beverly Moore; the legacy of his offspring, Bishop Bobby J Moore and wife, Angel; his faithful companion and grandson, Jason Moore; Reverend Austin J. Moore, his grandson and quiet soldier of God; his encourager and delight, great-granddaughter, Melody Moore; his precious sister, Shirley Carlton; and a close family of nieces and nephews.
Awaiting his arrival in heaven were his precious daughter, Jennifer Lynn Moore; his parents, Rosse and Verda Moore; his dear sisters, Hazel Fletcher and Wilma Harrell; and his friend and brother, Ralph Moore.
A celebration of Mr. Moore’s life will be held on Sunday, October 3rd, at 3 p.m. at Abundant Life Fellowship in Brunswick, GA. Active pall bearers will be: Marcus Carlton, Cleve Moore, Richard Moore, Steve Fletcher, Colin Scogin, and Reverend Sean Young. The Deacons of Abundant Life Fellowship will serve as honorary pall bearers. Mr. Moore’s son, Bishop Bobby J. Moore, will honor his father by officiating. Bishop Tommy Powell, long-time friend, and Minister Robert Johnson, comforter and helper, will also officiate. Elev8 and Worship Pastor Austin J. Moore will minister in song. An interment service will conclude his memorial at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 4th at the River View Cemetery in Valdosta, GA.
The family of Mr. Moore is grateful for all the expressions of sympathy and love that have been shown to them during their time of bereavement.
