Bessie R. Tamez, 94, passed away June 21, 2018 at her residence in Bryan.

She was born April 5, 1924 in Franklin, Texas, the daughter of Porfirio and Mary Garcia Rivera. Mrs. Tamez was married to Esequiel A. Tamez and together they raised four children.

Mrs. Tamez was preceded in death by her husband, Esequiel A. Tamez, Sr.; and two sons, Ezekiel Tamez, Jr. and Rudy Tamez.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria T. Lea and her husband, Glenn; a son, Robert Tamez and his fiancé, Martha; his ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tamez will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
