Cora S. Younger

Psalm 103:1 Praise the Lord, O my Soul.
Cora (Schram) Younger, 89, stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 24, 2019. Born to Charlie A. and Emma (Schmidt) Schram on August 18, 1930, in the small German farming community of Kurten, TX. The sixth of seven children. She grew up during the Great Depression and was a teen during World War II. She attended Tabor School Kurten School, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, Bryan, TX in 1949. She attended MacKenzie-Baldwin Business School before going to work for Texas A&M.
In 1951, she meet and married Jimmie E. Younger, an airman stationed at Bryan Air Force Base. Their first child was born on base in 1953. They spent 21 years letting the Air Force dictate their lives. Living in Colorado and California, and coming home to Texas when Jimmie went overseas. After he retired from the service, they came home to Texas for good. Cora went back to work. She ended her career when she retired as a secretary for the Grounds Maintenance Department at Texas A&M.
Cora was a lifelong member of the Zion Church of Kurten. She was an active member of the Women’s Guild. She loved attending the Bible Group.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Anna Watson and husband Edward, John Schram, Emmet Schram, Charlene Campbell and husband Harvey; and brother-in-law, Albin Holubec.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jimmie E Younger; daughters, Marie Valenta and husband Allen, Gail Little and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Aaron Jadlowski, Allison Widner, Jared Jadlowski, Darin Valenta, Jason Little, Jon Little, and Justin Little. Also, by sisters, Lillian Schram Holubec and Leona Schram; sister-in-law, Bernice Schram; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 27th at the Zion Church of Kurten. Services will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Aubrey Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at the Kurten Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aids of Traditions Hospice Care for the loving care they provided. A special thanks to caregiver Mary. We wouldn’t have made it without your knowledge and devotion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kurten Cemetery Association or Zion Church of Kurten.
