Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 18 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan for Elmer and his beloved wife Helen, who passed away June 5, 2018.
Elmer was born July 10, 1927 in Windom, Texas the son of Elmer “Pete” and Eula Mae (Raney) Berryhill. He graduated from Dodd City Rural High School, and earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from Sam Houston State University. He continued his education taking courses at East Texas State, West Texas State and Texas Tech University. Elmer was a Vocational Agriculture teacher for many years, teaching at Bovina, Dodd City and Quitaque Independent School Districts. He then served as an Administrative Assistant and Elementary Principal at Dimmitt Independent School District.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was recalled to active duty to serve during the Korean War. Elmer met the love of his life Helen Hannan, and they were married in Pueblo, Colorado on June 2, 1949. He was ordained as a Deacon in First Baptist Church Dodd City, Texas in 1952.
Elmer is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Helen.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Becky Berryhill and Michael Brock; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Rose Berryhill; granddaughter, Crystal Berryhill; and good friends, Les and Carla Miller.
