Sue Frances Maly

Sue Frances Maly passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018, at CHI-St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan with the Rev. Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Sue was born on October 13, 1923, to Joe and Mary Boriskie. Upon graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, she married the love of her life, Johnnie Louis Maly, and they settled in Bryan where they raised three boys. After the boys were older, she became a telephone operator for G.T.E. in Bryan, and retired from there after 25 years of service.

Her greatest joys in life were her family and her church. She was an excellent cook and loved hosting all the family holidays. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, The Holy Rosary Society, and served as a rosary prayer leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, David William Maly, two brothers, Frank and Johnny Boriskie, and two sisters, Anna Mae Dominik and Josephine Fojtik.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Gerard Maly, of Bryan, Texas; Ed Maly and his wife, Patty, of Sugar Land, Texas; grandchildren, Robin Lynn Maly, of Richmond, Texas; John Paul Maly and his wife, Emmily, of Staunton, Virginia, and Matt Maly and his wife, Maddy, of Oakland, California; great grandchildren Skye, Summer, and Gavin Luker of Richmond, Texas, and Sophie Maly, of Staunton, Virginia.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lampstand Nursing and Rehabilitation for all the attentive care they have provided for both Sue and Richard over the years. Thanks also to Frank Fotjik, of Bryan, for bringing Holy Communion to the nursing home, and to Father John and the priests at St. Joseph’s for having the monthly masses at Lampstand so Sue could keep her connection to the church while living at Lampstand.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church in Bryan, Texas.
