Edward Peter Pette

February 19, 1941April 2, 2019

E. P. “Stovepipe” Pette 78 Years old, 78 Wild Horse races February 19, 1941-April 2, 2019 Cheyenne Wyoming Memorial Service will be held July 28, 2019 at The Bunkhouse Bar and Grill, 1064 Happy Jack Rd. Cheyenne Wyoming 82009 following the end of Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Stovepipe Pette leaves behind two sons, Finn Joseph and John Tor who are both bigger than him, and yet unable to fill his boots. Where he was born doesn’t really matter, because what he loved was Cheyenne, Wyoming and it is where he lived his entire life, whether he was there physically or not. Stovepipe participated in 78 Wild Horse Races and was a constant presence at Cheyenne Frontier Days eventually becoming a Heel, a position he treasured more than damned near anything.

He was a cowboy, in his heart and in his soul. He inspired his children to be men of honor, to be men of their word, and to always do the right thing no matter if anyone was watching or not. Over the course of his life he became a legend around Cheyenne, and we’ll be damned if we do anything to stop that in his obituary. Anyone who knew him, knew he was larger than life, bigger than his physical form, and always had a story to tell, or a hand to shake. To say he will be missed would be ridiculous. How do you miss a legend? He will always be with us, with everyone who knew him. I won’t say he always had a kind word, but he would always tell you the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

If you’d like to honor the man, tell the truth. Be honest. Love often, be angry less. If you’d like to share a story or raise a glass in his honor, meet us down at the Bunkhouse on July 28th and we’ll laugh and cry and have a helluva good time. He loved his family, friends and that damned old rodeo more than most people know. If you knew him, we’ll look for you. If you didn’t? Well, just ask around CFD, there’s probably more than a few that’ll spin you story. We love you Dad, you were our hero, our best friend, and the best damned Dad any man or woman could ask for. Love you, John & Finn

He helped me on my first paper paper route. It was snowing and freezing and he had frozen snot on his mustache. And we pushed threw.
