OBITUARY

Elena Danieli (nee Vendramin)

February 26, 1928May 21, 2020

Born: San Lazzaro, Treviso, Italy - Entered into Rest: Vancouver, Canada

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Elena, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugenio, in 2016, and is survived by her children: John, Jack, Joe (Iva) and Mary; grandchildren: Lisa, Matthew and Cristina. After marrying Eugenio in 1955 and immigrating to Canada in 1956, Elena raised her family, gave selflessly to her parish, St. Francis of Assisi and continued to exemplify the work ethic that dominated her entire life. She worked tirelessly in the early years looking after Italian immigrant boarders as well as her own children. After the kids were grown she worked with the elderly in home care until it was finally her time to retire with Dad. They made their pilgrimage to the Holy Land, a trip they relished, and several times to Mexico to visit with family and bathe in the sunshine. She was a woman defined by faith and family. We will miss her strength, her tenacity and her fortitude - all traits she inculcated in her children. She is finally at rest and joined in eternal union with Dad. A private family funeral will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on May 26. Due to the Covid-19 situation, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Dear Cousins,

My thoughts and prayers for you all at this time and for the repose of the soul your mom, my Zia Elena.

She and your father, were deeply loved and cared for by you in their time of need - that was clear!

I will always remember my time growing up and our big trips into the city - East Van - to see our cousins. The warm summer evenings after dinner and Zia would always offer us ice cream. And in the winter, Zia would offer us the crostoli she made and I loved them because of all the icing sugar she put on them.

I hope you will cherish your many memories of her and hold them close.

God bless and take care,

Antonio
