With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Erminia Revel after a valiant 6-month battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving husband Arturo in April of this year. Left to mourn are her beloved children; daughter Rosella and her son Rino (Ana) and her cherished pride and joy her two grandsons Christian and Julian. She is survived by her sister Grace (Geoff) and nieces and nephew.
Mom was born April 18, 1943, in Celano, Italy and made the voyage at age 16 in 1959 like so many immigrants before her to Halifax. From there she moved to Vancouver where she met the love and soulmate of her life. They married in 1970 and raised a family with two kids. Mom’s greatest achievement in life was her family which she put before anything. Preparing family dinners was the utmost important thing to her and she instilled this in our upbringing. Mom was an accomplished chef and amazing baker, and everyone has a favourite food to remember her by. Mom’s love of gardening was known to all that knew her, and she cherished her garden above all things.
Becoming a Nona gave my mom her greatest joy and satisfaction in life. She doted on her grand kids and was so proud that she was able to spend so much time with them. My mom was a simple woman who was selfless and did everything to help her family. We would like to thank Dr. Simon Yu and the entire staff at Burnaby General Cancer unit for all their efforts to help mom and keep her comfortable. We are forever thankful. Mom we are going to miss you tremendously but know that you are all around us everywhere and we will never forget you.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday August 6 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Parrish with entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Grand Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers please donate to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
