They had 5 kids before she moved in1956 to the City of Guangzhou and there she stayed till 1958 when she moved to Hong Kong. It wasn’t until 1967 that she immigrated to Vancouver, Canada where she spent the remainder or her life. Over the years she worked as a home maker, seamstress, farm hand, kitchen staff, and grocery store owner. Her hobbies include gardening, Mah Jong, Video Games such as Dr. Mario and Tetris. She also spent a lot of time looking after her grandchildren.

She was always such a sweet, kind, and hard working person. She always thought about others before herself. Everyone who would meet her thought she was friendly, likable, and funny. She would always play along and joke with us and tell us interesting stories from her past. She also loved kids and her face would light up when she saw them, especially when she got to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 2015, she accepted Jesus at an outreach event and attended church when she could at Vancouver Chinese Pentecostal Church. She lived a long healthy life and passed away surrounded by family on January 02, 2020. She is survived by her 5 children, 21 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren who all love her dearly.

I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with PohPoh when she was in her early 90s. She had so many stories, poems, songs & lessons to share! One of my favourites was when she married Goong Goong. It was arranged by a matchmaker. All Pohpoh knew was that her groom was from a neighbouring village, but she soon heard rumours that he might be rather unintelligent & unattractive. She & her family worried. But when she finally got to meet him on their wedding night, she couldn't believe what a hunk he was! Pohpoh would giggle & grin ear to ear every time she told me this story 🥰 I miss her dearly

A wonderful life to be celebrated, she lived by example, and showed kindness and warmth to all those who came across her, without prejudice. She was well loved, and will continue to well remembered. We will honour her by living lives worthy of her memory.
