Mona Mui Yin Wong

Our dear mother, Mrs. Mona Wong, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 2, 2021 at the age of 91. She was welcomed into the glorious presence of her Lord to join her beloved husband, family members and friends who preceded her. By God’s grace, she enjoyed each meal and activity every single day, lovingly cared for at home by her four children.

From her childhood years in Shanghai to her adult life in Hong Kong and Canada, she displayed a selfless love to family and friends alike in a quiet, supportive manner. In addition to raising the family, she provided home care services for the elderly and those with medical needs. She and Dad faithfully served the Lord in church and out of the home, showing hospitality to many of His servants. Some even ordered her famous sponge cake to take home for their family. Following her retirement, she devoted herself to taking care of Dad until his passing. In her mid-80’s her weekly appearance at the gym encouraged everyone to keep going. She was an inspiration to many of her clients when she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream to volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Even during the past few years, she continued to brighten people’s day through visits and phone calls.

Mom exemplified for all of us a sense of gratitude and trust in God. Her favourite song was “Thanks to God” and she recited psalms each day. She especially appreciated receiving her favourite verses (Philippians 4:6-7) in beautiful calligraphy as a gift for her 90th birthday. She always reminded us that “it is better to give than to receive” and that “contentment brings lasting joy.” She often thanked God for His blessing on all her children and grandchildren and prayed for each by name. Her final prayer at mealtime was to thank God for the blessing of being able to have children. All her prayers are such a comfort to us!

頌慈母恩

於2021年9月2日，我們至愛的母親黃妙研女士在睡夢中安息主懷，享年91歲。她被接到榮耀的天父家裡，與她心愛的丈夫和其他已返天家的家人和朋友歡聚。她蒙神莫大的恩典，晚年一直能留在家裡，得到四個兒女的悉心照顧，每天都能享受飲食和生活樂趣，為此她常感恩。

從在上海的童年時代到移居香港和加拿大的日子，媽媽都以一種溫柔的態度默默地服侍他人，對家人和朋友都表現出捨己的愛。除了養育兒女和打理家務外，她還為長者們和治療後需要幫助的人提供家庭護理服務。她和爸爸無論在教會和家中都是忠心服侍主，熱情款待無數主的僕人。有些甚至請她預備她“拿手”的“長老蛋糕”，以便帶回與家人分享。退休後，她全心全意照顧爸爸，直到他離世。在80多歲的時候，她每週都去社區中心健身室做運動，以身作則鼓勵大家要恒心地鍛煉身體。當她在高齡時仍參加送餐服務做義工，實現她一生的夢想，她激勵了許多送餐服務的客戶。在過去數年裡，她仍然透過探訪和電話慰問鼓勵很多人。

媽媽為我們所有人豎立了一個感恩和信靠神的榜樣。她最喜歡的詩歌是“感謝神”; 每一天她都喜愛背誦詩篇。她特別喜愛在90歲生日時收到的一幅漂亮的書法作為禮物，寫的是她最喜歡的經文（腓立比書4:6-7）。她經常提醒我們:“施比受更為有福”和“知足常樂”。她經常感謝神祝福她所有的子女和兒孫，並為每一個人提名禱告。在她一生最後一次的謝飯禱告中，媽媽感謝神讓她享有生兒育女的福氣。她的禱告帶給我們無限的安慰!
