Beth was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 15, 1941. She spent her younger years on the farm in Balzac, Alberta, graduated from the Calgary General Hospital in 1963 as a Registered Nurse and was a member of the CGH Alumnae for 56 years. Despite having a debilitating illness for 50 years she forged ahead and carried on a very active lifestyle raising her two daughters, working as a Nurse at William Roper Hull Home for over 25 years.
During her retirement, she joined the bridge playing community and faithfully attended several games weekly all over the city as well as attending many tournaments in Alberta and B.C. Beth developed extraordinary friendships during this time, many whom became some of her dearest friends.
Another passion in Beth's life was that she was a very devoted sports fan, particularly for the Calgary Flames and Calgary Stampeders. She held season tickets with the Flames since they came to Calgary 40 years ago. She also maintained lifelong friendships with her nursing classmates, many of whom have said they considered her to be like a sister.
Beth is survived by her daughters Kim (Warren), and Shannon (Eugene); grandchildren Lauren and Ryan; aunt Margaret Reid (103 years young), uncle Wally Onia (103 years young), sister-in-law Joyce Roth; Beth's sisters children Brent (Maryam) Dillabaugh, Lisa (Chris) Abuogi as well as many other special nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Dale in 2013, parents Keith and Lois, Lois’s second husband King Perry, sister Linda Butcher, aunt Mabel and uncle Hugh Bancroft, uncle Frank Reid, aunt Lorna Onia; sister and brother-in-laws Phyllis (Melvin), Jean (Keith), Doris (Don), Harry as well as niece Deb.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
