Grace Jean Folkmann passed away peacefully at Agecare Midnapore on September 5, 2023, at the age of 83. Grace is lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon (Alan) Brown, grandchildren Chance (Kelsey), and Cassidy, as well as her brother Gordon Ostashek.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Don Folkmann and her parents George and Mary Ostashek.
Grace was born in Newton Siding, Manitoba on December 17, 1939. She moved to Calgary in the mid 1960s where she stayed for the rest of her life. She worked at CIBC until the age of 65 when she retired.
Grace belonged to The Royal Canadian Legion where she loved to go play darts and listen to live bands, particularly her dear friend Frank Cox and his band.
She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good laugh right until the end. She was a loyal friend to all who were lucky enough to have her as one. If you told her something in confidence, you knew it was safe with her. She wanted to help everyone and would give "the shirt off her back" to anyone who needed it. Her favourite activity of all time was shopping and finding a great bargain was her reward. She also enjoyed hamburgers, Chinese food, playing Bingo, and a good stiff drink! Grace loved animals, especially cats and deer. She had a big heart and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 am.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Calgary Humane Society, AARCS or Hope Mission Calgary at www.hopemission.com/calgary.
