Joyce was born on the family farm to Jake and Rose Temple, and spent her childhood there. Joyce married Howard Olson in February 1950. Joyce was a wonderful cook and baker, and her meals and treats were shared and enjoyed by many as she loved to entertain. She grew a large garden then pickled, canned, and froze the harvest every year. She canned hundreds of jars of jam and fruit every fall that were savored each winter. She and Howard enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing and round dancing, making many lifelong friendships along the way. Joyce was an accomplished seamstress and sewed many clothes for their children as well as doing custom sewing for others.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband Howard, their three children Gloria (Carmen) Gosselin, their children Jody (Shawn) and Garth (Amanda), Clyde (Pat) Olson, their children Ryan (Jackie), Dan, and Micaela; Garth (Sue) Olson, their children Dave (Amanda), and Kelsey. Brothers Don (Doreen) Temple, Alvin (Elizabeth) Temple, brothers-in-law Ralph Olson, and Gordon (Hjordis) Olson. She is survived also by nineteen great-grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Jake and Rose Temple, parents-in-law Clarence and Freida Olson, brother-in-law Alvin Olson and sister-in-law Bessie Olson, her sister Dorothy and husband Edwin Doud, sisters-in-law Ruth Temple and Dene Temple.
A Funeral Service will be held at Fosters Garden Chapel, 3220-4th St. NW, Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
