Robert Reginald Hogarth

November 13, 1927February 10, 2021

Robert Reginald Hogarth, In the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 Robert “Bob” closed his eyes and his soul went to rest in the presence of his Lord at the age of 93.

Loving and compassionate caretakers of Stirling Heights were with him at the end. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Tanton) of 40 wonderful years. Loving father to Roberta “Bobbie”, William “Bill” and step-father to Virginia Miko. Proud Grandfather to Peter Greco Jr. (Tracey), Matthew Greco, Robert Hogarth (Tabitha), Nicole Hogarth, James Hogarth and Great-Grandfather to Olivia and Evan Greco, Braedon and Masen Hogarth and Melissa Giannasca. Dearest brother to William “Tom”, Gladys “Cissy”, Rose “Rosie”, Winnifred “Winnie”, Lily and Dorothy “Dotsie”. Predeceased by father William Hogarth, mother Rose (nee Lague), his first wife Hilda “Renee” and son-in-law Peter Greco. Bob will be sorely missed by many nieces and nephews in England and Canada.

Robert Moved to Canada from England with his family where he began a career with the Ontario government, which he enjoyed until retirement. Bob had many hobbies and interests over the years. He loved motorcycles and was still riding long into his 70’s. A real jack-of-all-trades, he could fix anything and was always happy to lend a hand where and however he could. Bob also loved to sing, and had quite the voice for it too! He enjoyed his time leading a singing group in the Elora, Fergus, Arthur and Guelph areas where they would sing for the residents of nursing homes. This was an activity that brought just as much joy to him as it did for others. Bob was still singing well into his 90’s, enjoying any opportunities that came his way while at Stirling Heights.

Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life by family will be held at a later date.

For those who wish, donations to the Cambridge and District Humane Society, The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada or the Alzheimer Society in Bob’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

My heartfelt condolences especially to Joan and Virginia on the passing of Bob. He so enjoyed life and I had the distinct pleasure to witness this. When traveling with Bob, Joan and my friend Ginny to Italy and Spain, I had the opportunity to get to know Bob better. I will always have fond memories of Bob's fun and enjoyment of life whether it was a glass of wine or a ride on a gondola. And his infectious laughter! Rest in peace Bob knowing you will be missed.

As well as enjoying his singing and pleasant disposition it was just great to sit and talk with him. His recollection of family, military days, and the things that mattered to him most would light up his eyes. It's been a pleasure to know Mr. Hogarth. - Brother Mark, Spiritual Care, Stirling Heights Long Term Care
