Born in East York on July 20, 1925, she graduated from the University of Toronto in 1947 with a BA in Psychology. She enjoyed her career as a social worker, before raising her children, and then later taught, for many years, at Secord Public School, in East York.
Survived by her husband Jim, daughters Mary Lynne (Bert), Kathy, Joanne and Beth (Kurt), grandchildren Shane, Sharon, David (Carolyn), Karen, and Christy, great-grandchildren Charlotte, Amy and Clara, her brother's wife Moira and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her baby brother Jack (2010).
Shirley’s family invites relatives and friends to the Funeral Service to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Richmond Street at Ilderton Road, Ilderton, Ontario (north of London). Followed by burial at Medway Cemetery. If desired, donations in Shirley’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
