Doris S. Ryder
September 24, 1928 – February 6, 2021
Doris S. Ryder, age 92, of Middletown, Pa, passed away on February 6, 2021. Born September 24, 1928 in Chambersburg, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Dora M. (Appel) Smith.
She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg and graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1946. She retired in the year 2000 with 33 1/2 years as an Executive Secretary with Syntonic Technology/Transcore. Doris enjoyed her family, friends, bowling, bingo, Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees.
Surviving are her son, Steven Kirk Ryder and wife Nancy; brother, Richard G. Smith of Winter Park, Fl.; nieces and nephews: three step-grandchildren, Tracey, Terri and Robert; and four step-great-grandchildren, Cortney, Wyatt, Colton and Bobby. She was preceded in death by sisters, Tressie B. Armstrong, Helen "Hud" Englerth and M. Louise Fisher, brother, Edgar L. Smith, and best friend and companion, Lester F. Kenfield.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doris' memory to the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second Street, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

I knew Doris she was a great person. My mother and I would visit her when she lived with her parents. My mother is Catherine Appel Martin , sister of Dora Appel Smith. To Kirk and family, you have my sympathy.
