Joan Marraro Bevilacqua

Joan Marraro Bevilacqua died peacefully at home on June 2, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born on October 1, 1917 in Catania, Italy to Giuseppe and Rachel Marraro. The family emigrated to the US when she was an infant and Joan grew up in New York. As a young woman she worked for National City Bank on Wall Street in Manhattan. She and Angelo M. Bevilacqua married in 1938. In 1953, they moved to Pennsylvania with their two children.
Joan was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Her creativity shone through in her cooking, sewing and decorative skills. She was active in the community and her church. Joan enjoyed reading and was passionate about playing duplicate Bridge. A fine player, she became a Life Master in 1979. But most of all she loved the company of her family and her many friends. Her bright smile will always be remembered by all who knew her.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo M. Bevilacqua and her brother, Vincent Marraro. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Bevilacqua and son-in-law, Stephen Grube of Camp Hill, PA, with whom she lived; her son, Robert Bevilacqua of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, John and Dee Brubaker of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands; Todd Brubaker of York, PA; Jessica and Brendan Ward of York, PA; great-grandchildren, Katia Brubaker of Lancaster, PA; and, Senga, Dylan and Ethan Brubaker of Providenciales, TCI.
Joan was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill, PA. In keeping with Joan’s wishes funeral services will be private.
