July 24, 1925 – October 9, 2021
Germaine Israel of Longmeadow, MA and formerly of New Rochelle, NY; Warwick, RI; Paris, France; and Cairo, Egypt, entered peacefully into rest on October 9, 2021 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Israel.
Devoted mother of Allen Israel and his wife Marcia, Nadine Israel and her husband Fred Yaitanes, and Leon Israel. Germaine is survived by one sister, Sara Jacobs, and predeceased by 4 beloved brothers and sisters. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Katelyn), David and Robert (Perri) Israel, and Michael and Danielle White. Loving great-grandmother of Blake and Benjamin Israel.
Germaine was a selflessly devoted and resilient woman. Despite the hardships Germaine and her family endured throughout life, she always remained the ‘backbone’ of the family. She was a brilliant woman – tech savvy even at the age of 96. Above all, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest pride and joy.
A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, October 13th at 1:00 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA. Per local town mandate, attendees are required to wear a mask while inside the funeral home; it has also been requested for masks to remain on while at the graveside.
Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to: NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) NAMI Massachusetts 331 Montvale Avenue 2nd floor Woburn, MA 01810

I have known Germaine got over 30 years. She was a strong and outspoken woman who remained committed to family til the end. She always reminded you of what it means to be a devoted mother. She will not be forgotten.
