Born in White Settlement to parents Jack and Linda Hooten of White Settlement, Carleton graduated from Brewer High School in 1981. He was a beloved husband of high school sweetheart and love of his life, Tammy Shue Hooten of 38 years; married in 1982.
Carleton was a strong follower of Christ and served as a deacon at West Freeway Church of Christ for many years. He gave his whole heart to his family and loved serving others. He was loved by anyone that knew him – having a huge impact on those he worked with and went to church with. An avid outdoorsman and sports fan, he loved gardening, hunting, fishing, baseball, football, music, and spending time with family and friends. One of his most cherished titles was “Uncle Hoot.” Known for being ornery, laughing hard, and having a huge heart, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Shue Hooten of White Settlement, son Jake Hooten and fiancé Marlies of Fort Worth, daughter Taylor Hooten of White Settlement, parents Jack and Linda Hooten of White Settlement, mother-in-law Glenda Shue of Burleson, brother Billy Hooten and wife Krista of Fort Worth, brother- and sister-in-law Tommy and Debbie Cheek of Burleson, and sister-in-law Robin Shue of Akron, Ohio. Hoot also had several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Jacky Don Hooten.
Flowers can be sent to West Freeway Church of Christ or in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Friends are invited to the visitation at 12:00 p.m. and the service at 1:00 p.m. both at West Freeway Church of Christ on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Burial will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery in Flower Mound.
