Chacko Jacob, also known as Kunju to his family, was born on September 18th 1938 to Eramelladil Chackochen and Sossama Ninan in Niranam at Eramelladil Kuricheth Veedu. He completed primary studies at Kombankerry School and secondary studies at Thevery School. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted and began his 15-year tenure serving the Indian Army within the Wireless Signals Division. He married Chinnamma Thomas in August of 1969 at the Mar Thoma Church in Niranam. The newlyweds moved to Dehli to kick start Chinnamma’s nursing career. They had three children, then moved to Monticello, New York in 1974. He obtained his certification as cardiac technician, and began his career working at Harris Community Hospital in the Telemetry Unit. After residing in New York for eleven years, the Jacob family moved to Coppell, TX and have resided there to date.
Chacko Jacob was a member of the Mar Thoma Church of Dallas, Farmers Branch and actively served his church by holding many positions on executive and other various committees. Additionally, he was devoted to the Irving/DFW Indian Lions Club and Kerala Association of Dallas. Appachen was handy around his house, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved creating and sharing his admiration for Kerala cuisine. Appachen was known for his willingness to advocate for what was right, and contributed to the causes for which he held dear to his heart.
Dedication, Love, Care and Faith outweighed Parkinsons and Lewy-Body dementia which began in September 2013 and progressed until his peaceful passing at his home in Coppell on Saturday November 17, 2018. Chacko Jacob is survived by his wife Chinnamma; son Jecku; daughters Annie (Jeckie) and Mary (Jackie); daughter-in-law Leslie; son-in-law Minu Varghese; grandchildren Maher, Nadia, Malachi, Ezekiel, Brendon, and Shane. His five siblings Mariamma, Babychayan, Sossamma, Pappachen, and Kunjuchen preceded him to Heaven; one sister Kunjumma currently resides in Kaviyoor.
