Luella Jones was born in Marlin, Texas the 9th day of April 1955 to the late Claude Bohana Sr. and Otha Mae Holloway Fletcher. Luella attended Booker T. Washington Jr. High School and graduated from Marlin High School May 24, 1973. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Education, from Texas Women University located in Denton, Texas; on August 13, 1977.
Luella accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Marlin, Texas. In the mid 1990’s Luella joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church, she served faithfully in the choir and children’s ministry.
Beginning her career Luella taught special education in Terrell,Texas. She then shifted to Dallas Independent School District where she obtained her teachers certification and dedicated more than 30 years of service. She specialized in Elementary English, teaching a multitude of grades ranging from 2nd grade to 5th grade. In retirement, she enjoyed giving her time to substituting in various elementary schools in Forney Independent School District.
Luella was preceded in death by her father and mother. Three brothers Robert Earl Mitchell, James C. Shaw, and Sam Waites Jr. She leaves cherished memories of the ones she left behind daughter Shelia Bogan(CB Bogan) of Katy, Texas; and son Jerry Jones(dog Dad to BO) of Dallas, Texas. Two beloved grandchildren Aubrey and Isaiah who were her pride & joy. Siblings, Lewis Mitchel (Phyllis) of Cincinnati, Ohio. Bennie Mitchell of Marlin, Texas. Deborah Bell (Thomas) of Forney, Texas. Sandra K. Bohanan, Aaron Bohanan, Sharon Boney, and Deloris Bohanan all of Houston, Texas. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her best friend Reneta Benjamin (Anthony) of Forney, Texas.
