

He was born April 4th, 1920, to the late Mack and Lennie Jones of Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters of Raleigh; and Dianne Slade, a daughter. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Jones, for 72 years; daughters, Carol G. Jones, Becky Mann and husband Charles Mann, and Angela Wilson; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; and sister Grace Perry of Raleigh.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was in the Philippines during WWII. He was awarded 3 bronze stars while serving. His first job after military service was a salesman for Carolina Hardware and then a salesman for Sir Walter Chevrolet until retirement in 1982. He then worked in his garden of flowers and vegetables. A man who loved people and always took the time to “talk.” He was known as the “flower man.”
There will be a graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016, at 11:00 am.
