It is with great sadness that the family of William Raymond Ludwig announces his passing on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Shirley and his children Jeff (Saundra), Kathy (Jim), and Cindy (Jim). Papa as he was fondly called will be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren, Zach, Hannah, Allie, Joel, and Josh. Bill was predeceased by his father Ray, his mother Geneva, and his brothers Bob and Jim.
Originally from Erie, PA, his job relocated Bill and Shirley to Cary, NC. Working for Lord Corporation for 42 1/2 years afforded Bill various opportunities within the company. He ended his career as Vice President responsible for Strategic Planning, The Quality Initiative and Information Technology. Singing in choirs, teaching Sunday School and Bible studies and serving on elder/deacon boards were among the various roles of church leadership in which Bill participated. He also had the privilege of serving on the board of The Erie City Mission and most recently as chairman of The Shepherds Theological Seminary Board of Directors, a ministry that was near and dear to his heart.
A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at Colonial Baptist Church in the chapel at 4:00pm. A light reception will follow in the student center cafe.
