Geraldine Parfait Horodecky left her family for her heavenly home on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 88. Although her departure was sudden, she was ready to join her loving husband and her lord and savior in glory. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Robert Horodecky Jr., her sons David Horodecky and Daniel Horodecky. Geraldine is survived by her daughter Debbie Tassin (Billy) and son Donald Horodecky (Sherril) her 5 grandchildren who she adored Brad Tassin (Lori), Shelley Tassin, Katie Lechien (Brad) and Dareth Decareaux (Danny). And her 6 great grandchildren Karlie Tassin, Reese Tassin, William Lechien, Liam Decareaux and Brooke Decareaux. She has another grandson and great granddaughter. Geraldine was born on December 3, 1931 in Dulac, Louisiana to the late Linest Parfait Sr. and Lydia Trosclair Parfait. She was the sister of Ozema Parfait, Phillip Parfait, Evelyn Henries, Betty Stanley, Judy Avery and the late Mable Andrues, Wilson Parfait, Wilbert Parfait, Linest Parfait, Junius Parfait, Barbara Cummings, Pat Parfait, Louise Parfait and Norbett Parfait. She was also the loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to hurricane Katrina Geraldine and her husband Robert were members of First Assembly of God church in Metairie for many years and served in many ministries at their church. Geraldine and her husband were devoted ministers to several nursing homes in the area where they faithfully went weekly to minister and pray for the residents. Geraldine and her husband also held a weekly bible study in their home for many years in which many people were saved and grew in the lord. Geraldine also attended The Tabernacle in Chalmette until she was unable to attend but faithful watched Sunday service on television. Geraldine loved the lord with all her heart you would always find her in daily prayer and reading of god's word. As she became unable to read her bible she would listen to the word faithfully every day. Without a doubt I know she is in heaven rejoicing with her lord and savior praising God. The family would like to thank three of the best caregivers God blessed our mom with, Amie Stander, Debbie Vita, and Julie Nitsch they became an extended family to us as they cared for our mother as if she was their own. Also thank you to Heart of Hospice for the help and support especially her nurse Maddie and aide Tameka. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Due to Covid-19, face masks and social distancing are required.

Can't believe you're gone... Gonna miss our Sunday phone calls where you would mostly try to guilt me into moving back home, tell me I gained weight, and try to guilt me some more.

Thanks for showing me what unshakeable faith looks like, teaching me how to wear lipstick, the importance of a solid skincare routine, how to be effectively stubborn, to sing loudly even though we're tone deaf, and, that there's no place like home.

I really, really, really want to share the pic of you in the funny wig, but I promised you I'd never post it. Sharing my other favorite photo of you instead - the most glamorous lady I know. Love you always.
