Linda Susan Ashbey Vaccaro, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Raised in Chalmette, Louisiana before moving to Madisonville, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, Linda lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.
Linda was the loving wife of Raymond Vaccaro for the last 54 years. Devoted mother of Jeff Vaccaro and Lisa Vaccaro (Ken), and grandmother of Evan Bauer. Sister of Kathleen Ashbey, Dani Guillot, Daniel “Johnny” Ferris (Terri), and sister-in-law of Teresa and Tommy Molaison. Aunt of Todd Molaison (Julie), Troy Molaison (Phyllis), Patrick Guillot (Stacy), and Justin Ferris. Great-aunt of Gabrielle Molaison.
She is preceded in death by her mother Jacqueline “Jackie” Purcell Ferris, father Arledge Henry Ashbey, stepfather Daniel John Ferris, in-laws Thomas and Marian Vaccaro, and sister-in-law Jean Vaccaro. Linda’s memory will also be cherished by her longtime friends, Undine “Lisa” Smith, Billy Curtis, and Marilyn Descant whose enduring friendship brought her immense joy and comfort through the years.
Although Linda was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 22 and it affected her daily life, she did not that let dampen her spirit. She worked in the medical field for most of her life before retiring to take care of her mother. Known for her outgoing personality and zest for life, Linda was truly the life of the party. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and making weekly trips to the casino.
Linda was one of the most caring and generous people. She loved cats and held a local rescue Fort Feline, and Gina Leger, the owner, near and dear to her heart. Known as “Nana Linda” to the Fort community, she always ensured the cats were never without food and treats. Services will be held on February 21, 2025, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home located at 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, Louisiana. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and service following at 1:00 p.m.
