ARTHUR (Art) P. MORMAN, 86, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on February 27, 2013. Art was born the fourth of eight children on July 25, 1926 in Brush, Colorado to Theodore and Delia Morman. Art grew up in the Last Chance area, learning how to be a farmer from his father. He left school after the 8th grade to work full time helping support the Morman family.
Art served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 as part of the occupying force in Japan, and was a member of the VFW Post #03551 in Brush, Colorado.
On Christmas day, 1947 Art married Betty Lou Selby at the Brush Methodist Church. After honeymooning in Estes Park, Art and Betty lived in the Denver area while Art was employed by the Gates Rubber Company for a short time. They moved to Woodrow, Colorado, where Art ran an auto mechanic shop and Betty ran the Woodrow Store/ Restaurant. In 1963, Art returned to his roots as a farmer/rancher in the Gary Community until retiring in 1981. In November 1986, Art and Betty made the move to sunny Arizona.
He was preceded in death by sons Steven Arthur and Stanley Paul; his parents, and his brothers Harold and Edwin.
Art is survived by his wife Betty of Chandler, Arizona, daughter Sharon Weiss (Robert) of Chandler, and sons Scott (Jeannie) of Austin, Texas and Shawn (Jenny) of Chandler; grandchildren Brandon (Annalee) Weiss and Staci Weiss, Molly and Alec Morman, Lauren, Connor, Anya, and Nolan Morman; great-grandchildren Hunter and Alexandra Weiss. He is also survived by siblings Viola Middlemist, Betty Sharp, Allen Morman, Leona Chastain, and Dan Morman.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will announce the date for a memorial service to be held this summer in Colorado.
